There is nothing like the aroma of cider simmering in my kitchen in the Fall. The smell alone fills me with such peace and warmth I can’t even express it in words, and of course the taste is lovely. I buy my own spices…nutmeg, cloves, allspice, fresh ginger, cinnamon, cardomon. and sometimes orange slices. I don’t really measure anything; I just add *a lot*! 

 Fall is my favorite season. I’m not so much into pumpkin-flavored lattes, but I admit I have a strange obsession with heirloom pumpkins. I still have one in my living room that I bought in November of last year! I keep checking it for rot, but it is still firm as can be. I also love the feeling of the air in Fall: it is crisp and cool and the smell just seems joyful and expectant to me. I’m ready to cozy up with a lot of soups, stews, and, of course, persimmons, which may be my all-time favorite fruit.
